Trouble 06:09
Love me girl, until the trees fall flat, until the vines crawl through the door, When the rain is gone then our blood must feed all the flowers in the soil, The air is full of the sparrows and flies that hide under the bridge, And it’s nothing new, it’s just a part of you and everyone who lives Under the moonlight. I’m wondering where you are now dear, are you mad, or changed, or free? I tell everyone that I tried but lost to your spineless, scattered leaves, And I’m hoping for an open door to tell me how to see, and I do what I do ’cause it’s a part of you and everyone who breaths under the moonlight. And I could fight it but you’d still feel the truth hit, ‘Cause I was never good at hiding it. And a troubled mind means a troubled heart don’t you know dear? And trouble has a way of finding us. They took out the roots and I looked at you, you saw the diamonds in the grass, And you said ‘life is here, doesn’t matter dear if its far, or near, or flat. And we alter it but it changes us, even though sometimes we don’t quite see that we’re moving around on this moving ground that changes like the sea under the red tide.’ And I could fight it but you’d still feel the truth hit, ‘Cause I was never good at hiding it. And a troubled mind means a troubled heart, don’t you know my dear? So trouble has a way of finding us. Trouble has a way of finding us.

The first flowers awoke then flung, from golden faces to the buried sun, whispered can you hear the sound of worn out marching drums My sight was darkened by the shaking ground, I turned to look but there was no one around, these things don't happen with a warning cut in stone Stand still, I will, My eyes will fight, For dreams to take flight beyond the night and day beyond the night and day When winter hums her tune, the heart of man Chooses not to listen even though he will regret the way the water freezes over with his debt And we know these cities might change and fall, But it's nice to know that love could be so tall And burst in the sky all at once. Stand still, I will, My eyes do fight, For dreams to take flight beyond the night and day beyond the night and day beyond the night

Yellow Fog 02:45
There will be time to face all the faces that you're meeting, Re-create, love is late, stylish heart is beating, Yellow fog bites its tongue into the corners of the evening, Down the drain, in the mud, your machine is grating. The women pace back and forth in the rain that's bleeding Out the door, on the floor, dance to rhythm that's leading You to fate, you to hate, you to love that's burning up, Fire inside, out your eyes, ya' didn't know you could see this way. And I don't know if this Is really really right, right now, But it feels okay, And there is really nothing else That I'd rather do except Wait inside the chambers of the sea, Within the yellow fog, I'll be Thinking of you and me Thinking of you and me. Late for work, late for days, late for spring to kick in, Time for you, time for me, time for indecision Pick up the phone, put it down, all these visions and revisions Are just a fad, it'll pass, light will come out screaming I don't know if this Is really really good for me, But it feels okay, And there is really no where else That I'd rather be except Down inside the chambers of the sea, Within the yellow fog, I'll be, Thinking of you and me Thinking of you and me.

this begins where it ends, endless thought, like a record, spins. I was a ghost, you were my friend, we took it all, and spent it all on love again. It's a book, it's a tale and it will be told until it can't be told no more I was the tide, I turned blue and I took your word, and you took mine and the love it grew But there were things we didn't understand, our reflections were distorted by the image we had planned. fog returned, and covered our eyes, tide came in, turned poison red, and buried the sky and as my mind continues to spin it's hard to tell just where it ended and where it began

City Of Dust 03:56
City of dust, where are your roots? You ask us for love, ask us to consume for you. You remember the taste, you remember your luck, It'll come back to you, but it might cost you more than what you bargained for. You didn't think you would fall, You didn't make a guess, You didn't care to know what would be best. Not every house makes a home, Not every word makes a sound, But if we're here anyway Then we may as well make it count, We may as well find our own hide out, and just live right here in the here and now. Because when every star turns away At least we'd know that we had those days, when we dared to love as all of it passed by, We'll dare to love as all of it passes by. City of dust, where is your truth? Are we alive? Are we in tune with you? Not every voice can be heard, Not every ghost has a name, But if we're here anyway Then we may as well become the thing That feeds the heart and the mind the same, A single cell to which we can all relate, Because when every star turns away, At least we'd know that we had those days, when we dared to love as all of it passed away, We'll dare to love as all of it passes away, We'll dare to love as all of it passes by.

when we started out the sparrows built a nest with our tongues and wound it up making a language built by leaves and sounds and they told us we'd be twisted and turned until we came undone. we were making tests, and you pretended you knew right from wrong. you said 'we must dance and make a crafty map by skipping along,' and the driver said to head down south until the rain clears up. It's coming along, It's coming along, but I guess I'll never figure it out now. the morning calls and it seems that you have already spent your love. who's the lucky one my love? And does he speak a language you understand? Well I can't say if I'm happy or sad for you my dear. It's coming along, It's coming along But I guess i'll never figure it out now. Yeah I guess we'll never figure it out now.
8.
Stop there I can't hear what you're saying, I think we just might have taken this too far, much too far beyond the stars. And I should know better but I can't seem to help myself, You put me in a kind of trance, watch me dance looking like a fool. And I know that you know, 'cause it shows But you pretend not to know and it's so cold. Yeah I know that you know 'cause it shows But you pretend not to know and it's so cold. It's so cold. Try to say exactly what you mean, I know it's hard, But I do not know if I'm able to go on and smile acting like it's alright. I got one chance, but I gave you so many, Doesn't make sense, but you told me not to worry 'cause "Things will work out the way they should" And you say we got no say in our fate, And we were doomed from the moment of our first date Yeah you say we got no say in our fate, And we were doomed from the moment of our first date, Oh what a thing to say.. If I was just another guy to you Then why would you say those things to me Those things that you said When we were sitting high above The city, feeling like no one could ever break us apart But then we broke apart.

The winter scar, the stone walls receding with the rise and fall of your lungs as you're dreaming of the way that she moves in and out of light so right. But it's the drawn together life and the pressure of the movement that we're muted by, so we're searching for the words as if they're fireflies, lighting up the road ahead. whoa, will we ever get out of this busy life with no clear direction whoa, it just seems like we're kind of out of it, busy little bees with no connection. There's a sign ahead, it tells us not to move so we just stay in bed, humming all the tunes that seem to say it best, "there is nothing here but now." But it's the way your lips are dropping out the words before you think of it, makes me see the beauty in not knowing if the fog will turn its back on us. whoa, will we ever get out of this busy life with no clear direction whoa, it just seems like we're kind of out of it, busy little bees with no connection. will we, will we ever get past this?

Winter Scar 04:44
Night was cold and our hands were tied, our eyes were gold and our lips were kind, you said to me that this was a dream floating softly on the tide of may, falling slowly in the key of 'A', it came to me, saw this in a dream that you gave to me as we came to be. Moments moving like a work of art, slowly saying that there is a part of all of this that will make some sense. Just holding onto what we've got, trying to remember that it's all we want, I had to say, "it's the only way, please return to me, and we will always be." If you make it back to me, I will never leave your side, I'm tired of these old memories, it's time we make them new, my love, 'cause times are getting way too tough without company. Couldn't find a poem that could say it right, couldn't find the key to all the secrets that you gave to me. So I slipped into another time - we often do this when we just can't seem to understand what it means to love something far above, and far away. So if you make it back to me, I will never leave your side, I'm tired of these old memories, it's time we make them new, my love, and if you make it back to me, I will try for you my love, try to fight these memories, and make them into what we are. Move on from the winter scar.

Ghost Limbs 05:32
I'm moving too fast out on the tall grass, trying to cut down time to my destination, I feel its vibration but I don't have a clue, don't have a clue what its like, but there's still a light. Is someone waiting, I sometimes wonder if it's better to be stranded or lost out at sea. And if I'm not mistaken, my heart is breaking, so I've got to split, got to split before it's too late. can't let you decide my fate. No use driving like the rain to your house, lady of the fog all I got now are ghost limbs and cyclones. Tonight I wake up with the mud in my head, I think it's safe to say that all I got left are ghost limbs and cyclones.

Simple Notes 04:01
One day I'll look up above the clouds and see the universe, understand its twisting, oh I'll put the car in drive and just move on up to the sun. One day I'll look up above the surface, see the simple notes dancing on the sea crest, Oh I'll learn to live outside my head and see what I've been missing out on. My mind's a blank page, too many things to focus, crumbles in the rain, melts upon a new kiss, And it wonders if you'll understand, wonders if you'll hold my hand. You ask me for the day, I ask you for the night time, We see if there's a way that we can reach a compromise, And if we can't reach that high we'll just climb our way back up, Yeah if we can't reach that high we'll just climb our way to the top. Will this, one day, be something that we look back on and put a smile back on it? Will this, one day, be something that we look back on and put a smile back on it?

about

City Of Dust is a cohesive and yet eclectic collection of songs inspired by modernity, urban decay, and human nature. Throughout the album, these themes fuse together and build on the idea that if there is trouble in nature, there is trouble in society.
